This thread is about if there should be a Main Quest and what would be the prize at the end of it. Post at the bottom of this and say how long it should be, what they should give out when it is finished and what it should be about. I am not asking for a hole story about the quest just what the topic should be about.

If they have a main quest they'll have to make a bad guy as well.....well now we have a use for Alvin!

I think it'd be nice to have a Main Quest. Most MMORPG's (that I've played) do have some kind of main questline that you can follow or not. Or you can level up like crazy by doing side quests and then do the main quest. But if they had to pick an enemy, I definitely vote or Alvin to be it! And when we get clans, maybe a clan can do the main quest together and you get extra bonuses or something(?). But I love this idea!

A main quest is really needed for a game like this, It has potential to go far and whenever I talk about the game I end up comparing it to Firefall, now the thing about Firefall is that it doesn't have a main quest per-say and it's more of a community goal that ALL players have to work together to achieve which is to push back the melding as as players do this it opens up more areas but if players slack off the melding will retake areas well I believe that SOD could maybe do something along those lines

Also, I agree with dragonmaster, there is no villain more approriate than Alvin for this This is just a wild random idea, but what if that main quest - that, like oldrockgod said, would never end - was to rescue and/or protect dragons that Alvin was trying to steal or had stolen?

That sounds like a great idea! That way, there would be no end to the game (technically I suppose there might be (?)), but we could keep playing and never really get bored from lack of quests and constantly farming all the time. A main quest like that would have a great addition to the game.

I really like the idea about Alvin, but maybe there could be both a "main quest" and a "ongoing quest". Alvin could be a boss of a raid on Berk, and there was this guy named "Dagur" in Dragons riders of Berk part 2 who would be great for the main quest. But if there is a "main quest" what would thay give out... Night furys?

If you look at the many other threads on here, the idea of people getting Night Furies is not the best one (mainly because everyone would have them and as far as we know, Toothless is still the only one). Maybe you unlock new areas and get like special equipment? I'm not the best at prizes. It all depends on the difficulty of the boss and the, what's the word, the raritability of the prize? I don't know the word for it, but it has to balance out. I know in TF2 when you go in Mann Up mode, you can get a variety of prizes depending on how much effort you put in and how many kills you got. Maybe something like that?

Maybe something like that? I see what you mean about "Night Furys", half of the players want them and the other half don't. But maybe if the quest is long (and by long I mean 1 week straight of playing) we could get away with it... maybe. But back to the "main quest". I thought maybe this quest could be full of twists and turns like questions like "How would you deal with a problem" and whatever you said would effect the quest and/or you. There could also be some sort of link between the series and this game where we could decide what happens next... it's a long shot but it might work.

Well, but unless you split the quest into several tasks that would give you rewards when accomplished, the never ending (reminds me of the movie) quest wouldn't make that muchs sense, because you would never be given anything, since you never reached the end. However, I get your point, maybe we need to think of something different. As for the rewards, I am too sure. The night fury issue is being discussed on another thread, and I'm not too sure of what sort of reward would be fitting. Just gold and xp doesn't really seem to cut it. Maybe there could be some sort attire, a helmet or a tunic. And the further you got on the quest, the more advanced, or upgraded, it would be.

The idea about the armor is a good idea Cartographer. But I was thinking about a sword and at the first of the quest we would draw it out of several different one's and it would be unique like our dragon (but it probably be a ax and not a sword after all... were Vikings). But a other idea is what if the "main quest" was about how toothless became extinct or if he really is? I also wonder if we could pick sides "Berk or Berkers"?

I don't know about the weapons. It would definitely look cool, but the game isn't really battle orientend. Then again, that may change with new updates, since the TV series second season is called Defenders of Berk, so there might be some fighting in the future. If that's the case, yeah, I would love riding my midnight blue Nightmare wielding a spear and with some sort of crested cloak-like tunic, waving in the wind =D
**********SPOILER ALERT!!!!*********** About Dagur, he's sort of a "friend" of Berk. He's the leader of the Berserkers, but he signed a peace treaty after some clever acting from Hiccup and the rest, including the dragons, so I don't know quite how to have him take part in the main quest.

Also, about weapons, this is supposed to be kid friendly. And don't get me wrong, I'd love to go PVP in this or just battle Outcast NPCs. But parents would say it's too violent (though don't get me started on that). So they might not add fighting unless it has to do with the show/movies.
