I watched the movie again last night, and since it was in French (hey, it was Skips who wanted it in French!) I zoned out from the talking side of it. However, I started noticing more in the actual movie when watching it.
Some of the hidden bits in there are amazing, for example some of the facial expressions- when Toothless is drawing, (don't know how many of you have noticed this) Hiccup actually attempts to look away when Toothless looks at him, but then turns back when Toothless looks away again.
When watching the movie, I realise how much work has gone into it, and so much so that it is actually like a work of art. I mean, seriously. The perfect setting for the whole story to take place, and the scene where "Forbidden Friendship" is playing, it is sheer perfection. The bit where Hiccup is almost dancing, and then it just fades down to one voice... Just pure magic. Honestly.
Skips and I were also commenting on how great of a character Hiccup is. He isn't perfect, which makes him perfect in the movie. When he first encountered the Hideous Zippleback, we all probably thought he would be able to throw the water over the sparking head. And then he fails so badly, you can't but smile and say "typical Hiccup". There's a perfect balance of awesomeness and silliness from Hiccup. After all, he just looks so epic when he's flying. When he's on the ground, he's the trip-up guy.
Another character who is just fantastic is... Gobber. If he went missing, the movie would be totally different! (What do you guys think about that?) Gobber is a brilliant comedy character who is a real character, he has a story and a past, and he has a brilliant personality, and he I think is almost a second father to Hiccup (or maybe just a crude fill in for his mother XD) but his role and place gives him a really important peg in the movie, since you can highlight his link to Stoick and Hiccup.
What do you guys think about the movie? Any parts you really love or hate? Any characters that you love or hate? Any little tiny details you've found? Please share, I'm interested to see your insights!

Another part of the movie I found to love that was pointed out to me by a friend was after the Battle of the Red Death. You see all the vikings surrounding Toothless and the Night Fury just laying there. There isn't much music, but there's a bit for ambiance. Then when Stoick listens to Hiccup's heartbeat, there are actually bass drums that start playing and then the music gets a bit brighter. I found that part to be really cool!

Believe it or not, I notice details on movies lol so +1 to all of this! xD A part I love is when Toothless is getting out of the cove and helps defend Hiccup from the Nightmare. The smoke is really cool and the music is like "The action is happening!" Then when the smoke clears the music is like "Nightfury revealed!" with Gobber saying "Nightfury! " Another part of the movie is very close by (like literally a minute later) when you actually see the gas in Toothless' throat and him about to blast Stoick to death but then he holds back and does a......"keeps tasting" thing with the gas when its gone. Not a favorite part but a cool part.

I had an urge to watch the movie so I did today and here are a few details that caught my attention.
- I forgot about the first part of the movie (when Hiccup explains Berk and the fight with dragons), or parts of it I should say, until I saw them again. Something I found really funny was Hiccup's wannabe super-mad-fighter look. It's when Gobber says "You need to stop all of...this *gesturing to Hiccup*". I found that cute.
- Also, when we learn Stoick is Hiccup's dad ; "Thanks...Dad". I love how everyone is getting mad at Hiccup, and his dad is just exasperated, and then Hiccup's like "Okay, but I hit a Night Fury!" as if what he just did was no big deal (even if he basically helped the dragons burn half the village).
- Gobber walks Hiccup back to his house and they come across the other teens sneering and teasing Hiccup. I liked the fact that Gobber pushed Snotlout away, not caring if he hurt him or whatever, just to shut him up and protect Hiccup from bullies. Just another reason why I love Gobber!
- I noticed this the other times I've watched the movie but I still find it funny; the part where Gobber and Stoick talk about what they're going to do with Hiccup and Gobber loses his rock tooth while drinking. He's like only half listening to Stoick talking about how he knew who he was when he was a child. He's really focused on finding his rock and putting it back in. Then he adds his two cents.
- I don't know why, but I don't think it ever really registered in my brain that the Gronckle Gobber let out for dragon training eats some rocks before attacking the gang...
- Always love and laugh at Snotlout's WTF face when Fishlegs gets all excited about the book of dragons. Priceless.
- I like when Hiccup read the book of dragons; the music speeds up the more dragons he passes and it really picks up when he gets to the Night Fury...the fact that it's so unknown and unbeatable and HE was able to bring it down, a hiccup.
- I find it so, so cute; one of the first times Hiccup and Toothless try to fly, Toothless ends up having his tongue stick out (like a dog poking it's head out of a car in movement) and he's having so much fun flying again.
- I find the lighting and the shadows in the movie very well done, quite realistic.
- I've always like the realism of the characters and the way they act, for instance; after Stoick and Hiccup fight, Stoick slams the down and walks out. As he does, we see his take a breath and sort of step back like some invisible pressure hit him; the pressure of being a father. We can see that the fight really effected him.
- Also, and lastly I guess, I like the little detail of Toothless only giving people what they want AFTER they have apologized to Hiccup. For example, when he went all nuts flying with Astrid on his back, he only calmed down when Astrid said sorry for being mean and not listening. And, he only revealed that Hiccup was alive at the end when Stoick apologized to supposed dead Hiccup, that he should have been better and listened, etc. Toothless' bond to Hiccup is very deep, and so is Hiccup's to his dragon; his best friend.

You guys just named so many of my favourite parts, even the small details...especially the one about Forbidden Friendship, where the music builds up and eventually dies down to one voice. Did you also notice the slight hesitation Toothless displayed just before the symbolic moment of the film (touching his nose to Hiccup's hand)? Really realistic. The soundtrack was absolutely stunning! "Forbidden Friendship" was well-crafted,and manages to tell the story of the developing bond between Hiccup and Toothless. The soft beginning denotes the beginning of their interaction with each other, and as their friendship reaches new stages, new instruments come in,and a new musical phrase begins. The building up of the music parallels the building of their trust and friendship, and the two eventually mimic each other's actions - Toothless and his attempt to draw Hiccup in the dirt (not too shabby, too ),and Hiccup somewhat mirroring Toothless's little dance during the drawing,as he avoided the lines to reach the Night Fury (this was not that obvious, however). And at last,Hiccup finds himself right before the mysterious Night Fury, staring at him wide-eyed and waiting for his next move. The music has quietened to merely the choir with the occasional drums, showing that the moment is still fragile. Hiccup has shown Toothless that he can be trusted through his avoidance of stepping on the lines; it's not ultimately up to Toothless to decide if the trust is mutual, but he's not up to it,as he refuses to let Hiccup touch him. And then the magical moment, accompanied by the magical feel provided by the music.. Ah... That was long... I really like to analyse movie soundtracks, especially of animated movies. HTTYD's soundtrack was beautiful. Romantic Flight was my next favourite XD

He full on pins Stoick, and bashes away multiple vikings before that. Only Hiccup's voice can calm the Night Fury...

I just realised a typo in my post. I meant to say "it's NOW ultimately up to Toothless",not "it's NOT" XD

When I first saw HTTYD, and near the end where Stoick says: ''You brought him back.. You brought him back alive!'' I was like: It was just such a powerful moment, they used to fight eachother for so long and these two changed everything, even Stoick saw near the end that Hiccup was right and that made everything so beautiful. All the emotions that are put in the movie is why HTTYD became my favorite movie.

Although I was always trying to figure out if he drew Hiccup (and trying to see it) or if he just drew random lines. I could never see Hiccup drawn :/ All in all! That scene was priceless! A very well done movie I have to admit!
