Whenever my dragon levels up, her energy and her happiness both drop to either 0 or 1. This is pretty irritating as fishing is already really hard for me due to the lag.

I have this problem too. It also happens when I talk to anyone related to my current quest.
Safari on Mac OS 10.7.5

You can fish in the farm area. It doesn't lag as much there.
