In the most recent update, did they change how dragons' energy works? Because before it would regenerate on its own (albeit very slowly) but now my dragon loses energy even when doing nothing. Is this a bug or do I now have no choice but to fish to get my dragon's energy up? If it's not a bug it seems a little ridiculous given the increased price of bait, and it basically guarantees that my dragon will never have enough energy to do things like flight club since I can't afford to constantly fish.

No, it was supposedly a bug to regenerate in the first place, but now they "fixed it" and it goes down >.>

In my opinion, I liked it when the energy bar went up.

I agree Im about to quit Im so tired of it. Half the time my line snaps... and I cant do anything.. my dragons energy is always 0.... very frustrating......

I think they overcompensated with the fix. I can understand not having energy automatically go up, but it seems silly for it to go down when a dragon is doing absolutely nothing. It'd be fair to have energy go down while running/flying around, but when you're fishing and your dragon takes a nap, it should go up.

are you keeping your dragon's happiness up? I was playing around with this yesterday, and at least for my dragon, her energy will only rise during rest if her happiness is 80 or above. The more it drops, the slower she regains energy (and even when it's topped out, that energy gain is frustratingly slow). If the happiness bar drops below 80 and turns blue, she'll start to lose energy while resting instead.
I agree that losing energy while resting is Not Okay >_< not only doesn't it make any sense generally, it also doesn't make in-game sense. We lose energy doing so many different things as it is, losing energy just for being idle is frustrating...especially since they seem to lose energy while resting much faster than they gain it, depending on happiness level!

I know how you guys feel... my line always snaps too... it's really annoying, especially when bait is so costly now.

That is true but I have also noticed that my energy stays the same, or even goes up a notch or two, when I'm doing my quests (like, running around to talk to people). If I stand around and do nothing then my energy goes down.

If I stand around and do nothing then my energy goes down. One or the other of us must have a glitch then, since my primary way of raising my dragon's energy has been to stand around and do nothing while she sleeps, and keep playing with her just before her happiness hits 80. I can gain 2-3 energy between play times that way, and I've heard other people in the forums say that they can refill their energy gauge completely doing that in ~2 hours. I can also usually get an energy or two while I'm running around, but it seems more randomized; every time I try to time the rise in energy while running about I get a different time, and sometimes I can run around for 20 minutes without any energy gain. Unfortunately all my quests are currently locked/glitched out >_< so I don't really have any reason to run around and talk to anyone right now.

Well my energy gain while running around is recent and also somewhat randomized. I've tried gain my energy by leaving my dragon sleep or just by playing with him but energy still goes down; actually sometimes when I play my energy goes down faster...which I just don't understand.... Anyway, energy wise I don't mind too too much... it's mostly the fact that I have to feed my dragon and all I get are eels or broken lines -_-

The only 'free' way to fill up their happiness is to rub their nose
