Have you ever been riding your dragon and thought, "Gee, wouldn't it be nice if this Nightmare I'm ridding could suddenly catch fire like in the movie?"
I had the same thought the other day, and it brought me to thinking, "There should be special abilities for dragons!" For example, on every dragon there would be another button next to the four that was a star, or an image that would represent a special ability. Then, when pushed, the dragon would perform its ability. You might even include a special saddle or tool they'd need to use it, like for a Nightmare, a fireproof saddle that would be bigger to keep from burning you. Or for a Whispering Death, a tooth sharpener so that it can drill with you riding it. If that wouldn't work, you could mention that they sharpen their teeth using special rocks underground that almost never appear above ground, and since yours was raised above ground...you get it. You could only buy the one for your dragon, and they would cost a lot, like 1000 coins. Of course, it would have to be the next rank past Broadwing, and it would need to have something like a special ability level. Then, at level five it could use its special ability. Each level beyond that increases fire time, drill length, spines shot, etc, and could be raised by simply using it to do certain things. These are the ones I thought of for each of the dragon species.
1. Monstrous Nightmare: I think I pretty much told you. The mighty dragon would burst into flames, but you'd have to wear. special saddle that would keep you from coming in contact with the Nightmare's skin. It's also fireproof and isn't good at transferring heat. You'd level up the saddle by collecting things to make anti-fire oil, more wool from your farm to make it bigger, etc.
2. Deadly Nadder: It would be able to shoot spines, only it needs to practice so that it doesn't accidentally hit you or someone else, because that would be bad. So, you buy a target to put up in your farm, and the Nadder could be seen occasionally shooting spines at it while you're farming/ranching/fishing/decorating. To speed this up, you could click on it to tell it to fire at the target so it recognizes when you tell it to do so. Once it reaches level five, watch out. Spines will be nailing everything.
3. Gronckle: This one was a little hard to figure out for me. No offense, but, honestly, it's my least favorite dragon, even though I still think it's cool. Anyway, I figure that with it's spiked tail, it could slam the ground and make it crack. To get it to do this, you need a saddle with a saddle horn or handles to hold onto that have a special no-slip material on it, as the force of the blow could knock you off. To level it up, you would practice by pressing the button, but it wouldn't bash but buck so you could practice holding on. This one needs the most improvement, I guess...
4. Zippleback: This one is probably the most deadly - I mean, cool, power up I came up with. One of the heads fills the target area with gas, then the other lights it, causing an explosion. The item could be a certain item that would either increase the amount of gas it can produce, or the size of the sparks. Then you'd just practice blowing up stuff!
5. Thunder Drum: Easy. The Thunder Drum would launch its horrific sound waves that are powerful enough to distort light. To practice, you'd need to purchase ear plugs for you and the dragon, as the dragon normally makes them naturally, but it can only do it underwater, and it can't surface until it finishes some for him/her and some for you. They also have to be the perfect size, or they won't work. You can see why that wouldn't work out with a Viking on its back. So you purchase them from the only Viking known to make them, but you must first collect enough supplies to reach level five.
6. Whispering Death. Drilling, then reappearing a few feet in front of it at its target. And, like I said before, a tooth sharpener that's made out of the special rock that I mentioned earlier.
There could even be a special quest to finish the object and level it up.
Please tell me what you think!
