I was doing fine with this game, but I've run out of quests and there's no way for me to get gold. The current new quests are a joke. We get awarded 10 gold for every 100-ish that we pay out for seeds and fishing supplies etc.
Every fishing quest I've found pays out anywhere between 75 and 50 gold. Except in order to get bait, each one bait costs 8 gold, so a turn in costs at least 80 gold and that's if you're very lucky and don't lose one bait or fish!
How are we supposed to play this game? I have 2 gold left and that's it. Can't do anything. Can't play.

Hi Firestar,
You can get 25gold per race in the single player mode, so that can help bolster your gold reserves!
You can also fly around Berk, the School, and the Wilderness, using your dragon's fireball to light the various fire pits and cauldrons. It seems you need to light 2-3 per area to get the reward. Each area/run only gives you 5 gold at a time though, so that gets boring and time consuming - but at least doesn't cost you any energy or gold to do!
I've stopped fishing except for quests at this point. Your dragon will refresh energy - slowly! - if you stop moving in game and let the dragon sleep. What I've started doing is leaving the game running on my laptop nearby, and then doing other things - reading a book, playing a video game on a different console, etc. - while the energy slowly builds back. You need to move your viking slightly every few minutes or the game times out, unfortunately :/ so you can't just walk away. And you need to rub their belly to keep their morale up, too. It's frustratingly time consuming, but it's one way to get the energy back without spending gold, and then if you race you can actually make a small profit (and boost XP).
Hope this helps!

It is still not enough, if you ask me. Everything got so expensive - even the Bait! - and it can't be that we need to wait for our dragons energy to be filled. That's not fun at all!
I know it's right after an update, and updates are always bringing new stuff and joy - but also new problems.
I would like to see the Money Balance back. It is an inflation, only in the other way: Money is too precious! I must think twice before I even can buy a bag of Dragon Nip Seeds! I always end up buying ONE SINGLE bait because I can't effort more! Then I go to Thunder Run, do 2 Races and have to feed my dragon fish. Then I have to go fishing because I don't have any single fish anymore
I'm sorry if I'm on a little rant...

I agree with you, Acanthea :/ I'm also unhappy with the new price shifts. I couldn't make a profit off the fishing quests before! Now I'm kicking myself for not buying more bait last night >_< Farming looks fun and interesting (just trying it out now) but I probably won't be able to do much with it because of the cost. And I can only 'afford', time-wise, to do the "sit around and wait for 2 hours" for my dragon's energy to refill in the evenings when I get home from work >_< because the program takes up so much of my computer's resources that I can't use it for anything else while that's going on. My suggestion before the updates was to make the bait cheaper XD but I guess since they've made fishing easier (or so I hear?) they wanted to 'balance' it by making it more expensive. Perhaps if enough players explain their difficulties, they'll take our suggestions into account for the next set of updates! I understand wanting to keep the game balanced so it's not TOO easy, and people don't fly through the quests too fast while they're still in the early stages of release but...if people get frustrated/stop having fun, they'll lose players that way, too :/ I don't envy them trying to find that perfect line between keeping the game challenging enough so people don't get bored/finish the current quests too quickly, and easy enough that people don't quit out of frustration. I'm not sure there IS a way to make everyone happy yet... but hopefully if we stick it out, as the game grows they'll be able to balance it better

Very slowly but certainly faster than waiting two hours to do two races! You need 60 sunflowers for a turn in and it pays 195. You need 5 wools for a turn in that pays 95.

Well, if you HAVE enough money to buy the seeds or the animal food! Because I don't, and the money I gain with Thunder Run Races nees to be put in Baits, so my dragons won't starve >.<

Dang never mind. Sheep feed is 20, so that means it costs 100 for one turn in and the payout is 95.
Sunflowers do work though! Make sure you only harvest one plant at a time or you will lose sunflowers! You need 60 of them and there's 12 to a harvest if you manage to pick all of them up. So, you need 5 plots for one turn in. It costs 30 per seed so total cost is 150 for a pay out of 45. I've been going back and fourth just doing sunflowers and racing and I've managed to buy one sheep. Going to try chickens next to see if those have any value. I wish I knew how long it took for water to grow back.

Let's say you get 4 brown trout. 8x4=32. That mean you're only making 18 coins, which no doubt just feeds back into bait in the case you don't get exactly 4 brown trout. :/ If you get perch, that's even worse because those only heal 5 energy. I don't know what salmon does, 20 energy? In either case, it's best to just race until your dragon is exhausted, then use that money to buy sunflower seeds.

I accidentally lost some gems checking on the water >_< I assumed there'd be a timer by it like there is for the sheep and the plants but...no luck. Guess I'll log out for awhile and hope it's full when I come back XD

Well, there goes that. Water does not replenish if you are logged out. So, the game consists of standing around waiting for your water and dragon's health to return

I'm just wondering why they would increase the price of bait from 3 to 8 gold. It's just a worm, and it can't be used in any other part of the game. It'd be nice if we could go digging in the ground for worms to use as bait.

Hey, they changed the rewards for the Fishing Quests! The Trout Fishing, for example, is now 150 Gold. If you catch 0 in a row, you get a win of 80 Gold!
Thanks so much, dear SoD team! I knew you guys wouldn't let us down!

I'm still thinking that animals get you far more reliable money than anything else.
Water takes so long to grow back that it's only good for the longest of plants. And even then, I'm only using 5 plot slots because I don't have enough water to do more. Fishing is a hit or miss. I've been sitting at 8 perch for a long time, then I catch an eel, then a salmon... Can't seem to get a set of 10 unless I have a ton of money already and do nothing but fish.
