About a year ago I made a plush Toothless, and just this week I updated him by giving him completely new wings, butt fins, and tail fins (among minor tweaks to his overall appearance). His legs are super floppy, but can still support him and allow him to stand. His body is entirely hand-sewn out of soft fleece, with each stitch knotted for durability. His wings and fins are machine sewn, as I own a machine now! (I didn't when he was originally made..). He has plastic polly-pellets in his feet and tail tip for extra weight and floppiness. He measures 53 inches (4 feet 5 inches, 134.62 centimeters, or 1.48 yards) from nose to tail-tip! He has a 65 inch wingspan now. (note: The top right image has the old wings and fins, but I am keeping it because it is a nice photo to show off the rest of his body)
((CLICK on the image for a full-size view!))I thought this might be a fun thing to post here, and see what you guys think. :D Maybe next I'll tackle a Deadly Nadder...

Ahhh, that's adorable! ;w; You hand-sewed him at first? That's amazing, I'd never have the patience for that. XD

Thanks! Yes! I didn't have a machine, so I didn't really have a choice. He took me a good few months, maybe 4 or 5, in between my University schoolwork XD (...never again >>)

Yes! It is definitely possible! I originally did this whole thing with no machine, and he is the first plush I've ever sewn. There is a great tutorial that I followed making him. (I used my own pattern, but this is a very similar one. It has great tips for how to make him, as well as a free pattern!) nooby-banana.deviantart.com/art/Toothless-Tutorial-Part-1-165345913Just be ready to devote a lot of time to it! You can use very simple stitches, the only difference is that without a machine it takes much longer. It isn't any harder ;)

Oh woooow. That is such great work! Uh, May I ask, What did you make the wings out of? I'm working on something similar to a dragon at the moment. He's beautiful. fabulous job.

Thank you everyone! :) Oh woooow. That is such great work! Uh, May I ask, What did you make the wings out of? I'm working on something similar to a dragon at the moment. He's beautiful. fabulous job. He is entirely made out of regular fleece, as it is inexpensive and good for beginners. (This is the first plush I've made.) For the wings, I took two pieces of fleece, sewed them together into the basic wing shape (only doing around the edges, not the fingers/veins). Once it was flipped inside out and smoothed out, I folded the fleece where each vein would go, sewed about 1/2" from the fold, then straightened it back out. An easier way is to just sew a line down the wing where each finger would go, like I did on the hing leg/thigh fins. I would, however, recommend anti-pill fleece. The wings are brand new, which is why they look a little different, but in a year they will look exactly like the rest of the fabric I used. Fleece does pill like crazy after a while, and is maybe a dollar per yard (at most!) less expensive than anti-pill fleece - I just didn't know the difference when I started. Hope this helps, and good luck! :)

Oh my gosh, I remember seeing this! Did you release a pattern on DeviantART? I was going to use that pattern to make my sister's Night Fury, but my printer messed up, so I made my own.

I had a lot of help sewing from my grandparents (sewing machine broke on me) so he was entirely hand sewn. First plushie I'd ever made. Of course next time I'd do things differently but my sister likes him and that's all that matters. X3
