I've been thinking about paying for a membership for a while now whoever the idea of having to renew it monthly or even weekly or to m,ore of an effect annually somewhat repulses me from it, instead would it not make more sense to have a Payment system like Guild wars 2 or The secret works where you pay once for all the features of the game and then there's a side option to buy "Gems" with really money however those that paid for the game can still obtain these "Gems" by tradingxxx amount of coins for xxx amount of games?
Considering the games target audience and the decline in subscription based games this seems to me to be a more sensible option, However what do you guys think about it?
p.s I'm not try to discredit the creators in any way just voicing an oppinion

To be honest, I believe that keeping SoD as a subscription based game is the option that earns the game more money. I have no quarrel with this because the creators should be able to earn a fair amount of money on something they've spent a lot of time on ouo (But then again I wouldn't know what earns money and what doesn't)
'Considering the game's target audience' is actually another reason why I think that there isn't a buy-once membership option. Other online games for kids (Club Penguin, Bin Weevils etc.) use the same system of membership and it works out great!
But then again, I'm not in any way a games expert, and your opinion does seem to be the easier option. Perhaps we'll see a change in the way it works in the future?

Some of this is true but I have been playing games for a long time and without being too harsh it's because children can be sort of tricked in a sense however i'm not saying the devs are evil and trying to trick everyone in to giving them their wallets but .... here this was discussed a while back on another game and borderlands 2 was used as an example if it was subscription based this one quote struck out at me the most: "There’s a purity in playing a paid game that’s lost in most premium alternatives. Video games are all about escapism. There’s a certain indecency to thoughts of real-world money intruding into the experience. I believe this is why many gamers prefer a $60 Borderlands 2 experience over a free alternative. Many of us will pay a higher up-front cost to protect the integrity of the play experience." I believe this is the core structure of my argument and why I highly enjoy "The secret world" and "Guild wars 2" because that worry of real world money is never there, For example I'm sure you have walked into a store before and seen something you want that costs gems and you feel slightly upset by it or try and access another area but you can't as you aren't a member? (that last one isn't in Dragons but most subscription based games and it will be soon if you look at the member bonuses on the website)

I don't know, it's not up to me and I know practically nothing about games XD I have no idea why I'm even talking about this because I have no clue what I'm talking about, really ouo

What "the secret world did was for the first few months saty subscription and once they knew enough people were interested they switched to pay-once as they were confident they would make the appropriate amount of money
