I paid for membership for a year and when I go into character select, it says I have to be a member only to make another?

Membership should be available immediately after purchase. You might want to start by clearing your browser cache to assure that this is not a simple loading issue. Sometimes when your cache is storing too much information it can cause features not immediately load after changes to an account have been made.

You won't need to clear your Unity cache, so do not worry about that for now.
