The most glaring bug is that sometimes (and certainly more often than should be acceptable), the fish you are "reeling in" is stuck in place, leaving you with no option whatsoever except to abandon the game.
The other problem I've frequently experienced is that every fish other than the perch can spam resistance. Which, since the only way the game allows you to deal with resistance is to wait until it stops, effectively breaks the game by allowing the fish to push the bar into the far-right red zone no matter how far to the left you started at.

Agreed, the fishing game is very buggy for me too. I have the best rod too, and the drag option never seems to work for me, it just breaks the line. Whether that's an actual bug or I'm just not using it properly, I don't know ^^;

I'm glad I'm not the only one with the problem. I was able to reel in a perch for the first fishing quest by Mulch, but after one successful reel, I've never been able to reel in another fish because the fish are stuck in one spot. So now I'm stuck on Gobber's quest...

Hi terastas. We're working on fixing the stuck fish so we'll let you know when that's been resolved. Also, thanks for your feedback on fishing in terms of difficulty.
