The day my Deadly Nadder could fly was the best day for me in the HTTYD universe since I discovered the movie. I rushed into the hatchery when I was told my dragon was now old enough to fly. I threw my dragon in the lava (I think thats how it works in this game) and I made a few touch ups on the color.
After Thorntail popped out of his bath, we raced outside together, eager to test out his new wings. I hopped on his back, minding the spikes he was named after. "You ready to give this a shot?" I asked him. In answer he began to charge for the cliff, nearly trampling a blonde girl with her baby Gronckle. "Sorry!" I shouted over my shoulder, laughing. When he reached the edge of the cliff overlooking the ocean he didn't hesitate to leap off and dive headfirst towards the water. We pulled out of a steep dive right before we hit the water, his legs smacking with a splash.
"Too close!" I shouted, but inside I was having an amazing time. I urged him to climb up, up, up, ascending higher and higher until we reached the walls of what used to be the volcano. Suddenly we whipped around and dove back towards the school. My hair was whipping all over and I could barely open my eyes. I thought we were going to hit the cliff but I pulled up and we barely cleared the school roof before flying up on top of the cliffs and almost knocked Astrid over from the wind. We landed on the grass next to the waterfall and I dismounted, catching my breath and recovering from the adrenaline of almost smashing into the cliffs.
"Not bad. But you need to go easy with the dives." I told Thorntail, my stomach churning. He let out a low grumble that I took for a chuckle. Afterwards he lit a campfire and we relaxed for a while before class started, eating fish and thinking about all the new adventures we could have now that he could fly.
So, what was your first flight like?
