"And what if it isn't?" Part of her wanted to believe that what Vim said was true, but what if they were after land. Their land to be exact. She shivered. If they did get to Berk, what would they do? What would happen to the dragons and everyone else who remained on Berk?

"The Romans are imperialistic. They're probably after resources..." Vim stood up and started pacing. "They want slaves. They want land. But... They may be horrible, but they're not savages like the Outcasts." He tapped his spear. "What if we could bargain with them? Maybe give them something worth so much they'll leave us alone... Like knowledge on how to train dragons."

"You know the others are going to think you're nuts if you suggest that," she pointed out. "Like you said, they aren't like the Outcasts. If they get dragons, we'll all be in danger. They'll win every war and peace anyone in their way."

He realized that as soon as he said it. "I know..." He sat down and sighed. "I just... I don't want to die. I don't want to see any of you die. I don't want to peace anymore boys who are barely older than me."

"It's them or us," she mumbled. It was a cruel fact she figured out in the Outcast War. But this was different, yet rules still remained the same. Boe scooched next to him and pecked his cheek. "They were told to fight, just as we were. Maybe it's something they wanted to do. Die for their empire. Like some of the vikings we're fighting with want to die to save their own families..." There wasn't much to say to make him feel better, so she just tried her best.

He leaned into her for support. "I just have to face facts, I guess." He said. "War is part of who we are. This is who I have to be." He looked took off his horned helmet and looked down at it. "I'm a Viking."

Boethiah looked down at his helmet, and then put her hand on his. "Just because you're a Viking doesn't mean you always have to peace everyone..."

"No." He agreed. "But... there are times when I will have to. To protect the people I care about." He clasped her hand. "Like you. And Genoveffa. And Skips and Allyssa... And you. Wait. I said that already." He smiled.

Boethiah couldn't help but smile a little. "And you too. And me and Allyssa and Skips and everyone would do anything to protect you." He burdened himself with so much. "We'll all get through this. I promise."

He kissed her. Funny, it wasn't such a scary thing anymore. "The fires almost out." He said. "Want to set up camp?" Nearly everyone in the cave was asleep.

She smiled and kissed him right back. "Sure. It's going to get cold tonight...again..." Boethiah smirked a bit towards Vim.

He took her sleeping bag and laid it out. Then he laid his on top of hers. "Extra padding." He smirked. He slid inside.

Boethiah chuckled before sliding in next to him. She curled up against him best she could, feeling the warmth of his body. It was comforting. And hopefully, it'd last into tomorrow.

He kissed her. "Not much room in her," he smirked, "so this is goodnight." He kissed her again and drifted off to sleep.
((Goodnight))

"I guess it is," she smiled, letting her eyelids droop as she fell asleep.
