When Dotta arrived at the lake she found Vim sitting with Thorntail. Vim wore a pensive expression on his face. "You gonna be alright?" She asked.

Skips found Vim and Dotta and an up to them. "Am I late?" She huffed. "I'm guessing I'm not late, unless everyone else drank an invisibility potion." She joked, trying to hide how nervous she was. What if Metal was dead?

Annabethe flew down with Flare. "I've got the bird." She whistled, and pointed up. A hawk was circling above them.

"She's probably just running late." Dotta did her best to reassure Vim. "I had trouble sneaking past my folks. Maybe its the same for her."

Annabethe held out her arm, and the hawk flew onto it. "I've been training it to deliver messages to whoever you ask it to."

"Good. So, I can't take it with me to the island. That would be a huge red flag to the Outcasts." Said Vim, "So lets say..... Dinner tonight, send it to me. I'll send a note back saying where Metal is and the best way to get to him. The Outcasts will make me go through a trial to prove my worth the next day. That's when you sneak in and grab Metal."

He patted the raft. "I'll have Thorntail take me most of the way there. Then he'll drop me in the water with the raft and I'll paddle the rest of the way."

Dotta smiled and nodded. She looked around but still didn't see Boethiah anywhere. She grew worried and thought about going to look for the girl after Vim left.

Vim boarded Thorntail and looked at Skips. "Don't worry," he said, cracking a small smile, "We'll save your boyfriend." With that he took off, Thorntail clutching the raft in his claws.
