What books about dragons do you like to read? For myself, I love to read the Temeraire Series by Noami Novik. It's about the Napoleonic War, and the dragons are a part of the war force. But they're intelligent, can speak and think like us. Well, it depends on the breed. Also, they get as big as a house - or are as small as a horse. There are many different breeds. So, that Ship Captain William Laurence finds a dragon egg on the ship of the enemy. The dragon hatches and chooses Laurence as his new companion - or his Captain. When they return home, they first have to complete an education, since the fighting in the air need many strategies and maneuvers. While they do they have to handle many problems. In the end, Bonaparte tries an invasion in england, but thanks to Temeraire - the dragon - and Laurence they defeat him. Right now there are 7 books. The 8. will be released soon, well, in english. I'll have to wait a bit more! In these seven books they travel from England to China by ship, then back to England over land and Germany (right in my town!), and go to Africa to find a cure for a deadly Dragon Illness. They are punished and banished to Australia, where they have to find a stolen egg. And in the last, they need to go to South Africa, to make an ally with the Incas. The friendship between Laurence and Temeraire is amazing, and the dragons are very own characters with personality and their part in the story. Naomi Novik has a great writing style, and even if it's complicated sometimes with all the rangs in the war, it's still amazing! So which books do you read?

I recently started reading the "Wings of Fire" Series, it's all about the world through the dragons eyes, since they are kind of the major power in that land It's written by T. T. Sutherland

Oh, I see Skips! I have that too, and a handbook or a Journal where you can study about dragons.
And the Wings of Fire looks awesome, Sidian. How is it? Do you like it?

I remember reading Graham Norton's Ultimate Dragon Saga books when I was a kid, which includes Dragoncharm, Dragonstorm and Dragonflame. I remember liking them a lot back then, but it's been so long since I've read them that I can't give a proper opinion on them until I do. The dragon books that I do own are Carole Wilkinson's Dragonkeeper trilogy ( Dragonkeeper, Garden of the Purple Dragon and Dragon Moon; my book covers follow the theme of the Dragonkeeper picture I've linked to and I've yet to obtain a copy of the prequel, Dragon Dawn, and the recently-published 4th book, Blood Brothers, but I so want!). The stories follow a young Chinese slave girl (nameless to start with, but it's later revealed as Ping), owned by Master Lan and who tends to the imperial dragons. Her life is hard. her only friend is a rat named Hua. Her cruel master - once the mate of the last imperial dragon dies - turns the body of the mate into pickle. And when a dragonhunter comes to buy the last surviving dragon, Ping, Hua and the Dragon - Long Danzai - go on the run ... Yes, they're children's books, but they won several awards, like the Aurealis Award; the 2004 Queensland Premier's Literary Award; and the 2004 Shortlisted NSW Premier's Literary Award. Bonus points for Wilkinson being Australian They're easy to read but compelling, and I thoroughly recommend them.

The dragon books I've read and reread generally revolve around three series.
The first is Anne McCaffrey's Dragons of Pern series, which I've read since... I don't know, I guess I must have been about 12 when I first read Dragonflight. I'm actually not blown away by the quality of her writing, now I'm older, but I love the ideas behind her books.
The second is Jane Yolen's Pit Dragon trilogy - although, in searching for her name (as my mum owns the books, not me), I just discovered there's actually fourth one, so now I'll have to chase that down and read it. The books start with dragon fighting, and progress into ... finding out more about dragons. Sort of.
The third is the Dragongate Cycle by Margarte Weis and Tracey Hickman (I may have gotten their names wrong, but I can't be bothered to walk the necessary two metres to double check that), which aren't primarily about dragons, but do feature them pretty heavily, in places.

I've read the entire inheritance cycle books the order in the pic is the order in which they are rad there is even a movie however compared to the book it is a load of garbage The 15 year old resident of Carvahall, Eragon, starts the book by finding a strange blue stone while traversing The Spine, a mountainous area outside his home. The world in which this novel takes place is known as Alagaësia, under the control of Galbatorix, a fallen Dragon Rider, now evil. These dragon riders used to be the peace keepers of the world, but when his dragon died, Galbatorix went mad and killed his fellow riders. Eragon’s blue stone hatches eventually and from it emerges a dragon. Because of the rarity of the birth (dragons are supposed to be extinct), Eragon keeps his find secret and raises his dragon away from prying eyes, until two dark Ra’zac enter the town looking for the stone. The dragon, named Saphira, leaves the town with Eragon to hide in the forest. While Eragon is away, the Ra’zac peace Eragon’s Uncle Garrow and burn his house down. In response, Eragon declares himself a new Dragon Rider in the vain of those past, the peace keepers, before Galbatorix betrayed them. Eragon takes with him on his journeys Brom, a weaver of stories from his town with knowledge on everything Eragon needs to protect himself and defeat the Ra’zac.

I've read a couple of pages from Firelight (Sophie Jordan). I can't tell you a lot, but it's about a dragon that can shift into a human girl and eventually falls in love with a boy, which can't be, of course... I guess it's ok. Haven't read much because I didn't have enough time. It's the first part of a trilogy and this is the cover as I know it (with pretty golden letters):

I've read Dragonology when I was younger and I found it again (thankfully!). There's also another book I'm reading which isn't specifically about dragons, but it's about Vikings and it's pretty good so far! I think the funniest part is that the main character is a brown haired boy named Jack and has a little sister. But it's one I totally suggest. I'm so going to read more dragon books from this list! (just have to get through the sadness that is John Green first OTL)
