My daughter just got started yesterday and loves her new dragon. But she is having a problem- she can't feed him! I have been trying to help her figure this out, but I'm coming up with nothing. From what I gather from other posts, she should have some kind of fishing pole in her backpack, but we can't find one. And even if we could, I'm not sure what the controls are for her to cast. She doesn't have enough gems to buy an advanced one (she used her gems to buy fish because she didn't know better), but even if she did, the fishing poles are locked. If someone could give me a hint on how to help out my 7 year old with her new game, I would appreciate it. Thanks, Squeak

If someone could give me a hint on how to help out my 7 year old with her new game, I would appreciate it. Thanks, Squeak Hi there, Squeak! I'd be happy to help! c: To fish, first you need to find an area where you can fish. Probably the easiest one to access for your daughter would be the lake at the school, which is roughly located behind the Alchemy Lab (next to the Hatchery). Once you've found the lake, you'll probably see people fishing. Stand next to one of them and a button should appear at the bottom of your screen - it's a circle with a picture of a fishing pole and a fish. (See below) If you click on that button, a small bag will appear to the left of your daughter's viking, on the ground. Click on that bag (which goes yellow when you hover over it) and another button will come up. This one has a picture of some worms and a number. This is the bait that your daughter's viking has (basically, the number means how many times she can fish before she needs to buy new bait). Now click on that button and you can begin to fish.
Fishing itself is pretty easy to work out. Firstly, you need to cast your rod. Do this by clicking the big 'cast' button on the right or by pressing the spacebar. Your daughter's viking will now have a fishing line in the lake. Then, a red 'wait!' will come up. This part is pretty obvious but don't do anything at that point. When it says 'STRIKE', press the spacebar (or click the big button which now says 'STRIKE!'! (Be careful not to wait too long to 'strike', otherwise you will 'loose your bait' and have to start over again.)
There will be a bar that comes up at the top of the screen with a fish below it. Some fish are easier to catch than others - so you will probably have trouble with catching fish like eels and salmon, but not with perch and brown trout. If you don't manage to catch a fish, just try again. Now, you need to reel the fish in. You do this by pressing the spacebar and holding it down (again, or the big button, which now says 'reel'). This will make the slider on the bar go to the right. Be careful not to let the slider go into the red bits on either end of the bar, otherwise your line is at risk of snapping and you will have to start again if it does.
If the fish begins to struggle and the bar moves by itself, just wait 'till it gets to the green and reel it in again. You will see that when you reel, the fish comes in a bit closer. Once it reaches the shore, you have caught that fish!Once you have caught a fish for your daughter's dragon, you need to click on the dragon to feed it. Some buttons will come up, so just press on the one with the cutlery on it and select the fish that you would like to feed the dragon. All fish are different so be careful - eels will not satisfy the dragon's hunger, only plummet its happiness. Brown trout are more satisfying for most dragons than perch, too. One more thing, any piece of water where fish are jumping out is a fishing spot - so look for one of those if you would like to fish.
I hope this helped, and I wish you and your daughter good luck in catching lots of fish!
Happy adventuring and if you need any more help, feel free to ask me ouo

Thanks Skips for replying! I'm still having trouble though. I think there is a glitch. My husband ( a more experienced gamer) is taking a turn standing beside everyone in the area (as well as some fish hanging up) to no avail. Admin, got any thoughts?

Yeah, some of us are having problems with the fishing. Do you get stuck in the reel part or is something else? If it's in the reel, try clearing the cache both the browser and Unity Webplayer and try again.

There is no reel. There is no anything. We walk up beside the people, the water, anything having to do with fishing and... Nothing. Nothing comes up. It's as if there is no ability to fish at all.

Oh, and I have closed it out, logged off and tried again. It isn't changing anything.

Oh, and I have closed it out, logged off and tried again. It isn't changing anything. :( Hm. They'll need to collect information about what browser and system-thing (Windows 7) ect. you're using and your daughter's account's name. But I think they're already trying to fix this because other people have been having this problem too :/ To replenish her dragon's energy, she can always let them sleep by stopping and standing in one place for an amount of time, if that;s what she needs to do?

You have to do the quest with mulch first... finish the alchemy lab quest with the scientific inquiry thing and then talk to the school master, then he'll put you on a quest to meet mulch by the lake. After that then you can fish.

After that then you can fish. Our saviour is here! Thanks Connor, I forgot that. Looks like all that was wrong was a simple quest (unless it's already been done)!

(That rhymes!) The reason you're having trouble is that the 'aim of the game' as it were, for fishing is not to balance the bar ouo If you look at where the line of your rod is in the water, you'll notice that when you reel it in, it moves! To catch a fish, you need to keep on reeling the fish in, until it gets to the bank - press reel as much as possible without letting the pointer go into the red zones. It'll be sure to work then! Good luck and happy fishing! - Skips (The Home Repair Viking)

If someone could give me a hint on how to help out my 7 year old with her new game, I would appreciate it. Thanks, Squeak Hi, Squeakermom. As Connor pointed out, fishing does not become available until your daughter completes her first lab quest. After finishing this mission, she will receive a new mission to see Mulch by the lake, "Fishing 101." Here, Mulch will walk her through the steps to learn how to fish. Until this point, she will not have a fishing rod in her inventory nor will an option to fish appear if she walks up to a body of water. We hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any other questions!
